ANC Wishes Mme Kotane a Glorious 106th Birthday
12 February 2018

The African National Congress congratulates struggle stalwart and veteran of our movement, Mme Rebecca Kotane, on the occasion of her 106th birthday.

Born a month after the formation of the ANC, Mme Kotane was married to the former General Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP) and Treasurer General of the ANC, Comrade Moses Kotane.

A freedom fighter in her own right, Mme Kotane is part of the generation of activists at the forefront of the Congress of the People which adopted the Freedom Charter.

We continue to draw lessons and wisdom from leaders of Mme Kotane's generation. Their dedication, commitment and selfless sacrifices successfully led the struggle for political freedom in our country.

On behalf of the entire membership of the ANC and the people of South Africa, we wish Mme Kotane many more years of a healthy and good life.
