President Robert Mugabe of the Republic of Zimbabwe told the Great University that Africans should cease thinking like Europeans and rely more on their historical legacy. President Mugabe addressed the University after he was awarded an honorary doctorate degree for his service to the nation.

The Nigerian is saying that it killed 95 members of the Boko Haram group in the continuing crackdown in the Borno State capital of Maiduguri. It has been reported that the battle between Boko Haram and the Federal Republic has cost at least 3,600 lives.

Tensions are still escalating in the Southern African nation of Mozambique between the ruling FRELIMO party and the former apartheid-backed armed rebels known as RENAMO. RENAMO has declared the 1992 ceasefire agreement no longer in effect.

And finally, the African Union may provide further assistance to resolve border issues between the Republic of Sudan and South Sudan. Both states have been severely impacted since the partition of 2011.
