President Joyce Banda of the Southern African nation of Malawi paid a state visit to the Republic of Zimbabwe to open the International Trade Fair in Bulawayo. Banda, the first woman president of the country, praised the land reform program and called for the of lifting of sanctions by the imperialist states against Harare.

A rebel group fighting the Republic of South Sudan, the South Sudan Liberation Army (SSLA), has been granted amnesty by Juba. Thousands of fighters have been surrendering and turning over their weapons.

The French government has announced that it will keep its troops in Mali even after the deployment of a United Nations Peacekeeping force of more than 12,000 troops. France intervened in Mali in January and created greater instability and dislocation among the people of the West African state.

Finally, the U.S. and its imperialist allies has escalated hostility against the Middle Eastern state of Syria. The Syrian government has been battling a western-backed plot to overthrow the government of President Bashar al-Assad for the last two years.

This program concludes with a tribute Dr. Kwame Nkrumah the first Prime Minister and President of the Republic Ghana on the 41st anniversary of his transition. We listened to the independence speech delivered by Nkrumah in March 1957, excerpts from the All-African People's Conference of December 1958 and his speech before the United Nations General Assembly in September 1960.
