Meet Abayomi Azikiwe, Editor of the Pan-African News Wire, At The United States Social Forum in Detroit

Abayomi Azikiwe will be speaking at seven different venues during the USSF that is being held in Detroit between June 22-26. The following is a list of events where the Pan-African News Wire editor will be speaking during the USSF.

Tuesday, June 22, 10:00am-Noon--Meet Moratorium NOW! Coalition at the Highlighting Detroit sessions. Azikiwe will be present with Atty. Jerome Goldberg and others. Located at Cobo Conference Center Room 02-41.

Wednesday, June 23, 10:00am-Noon--Fighting for a Moratorium on Foreclosures, Evictions and Utility Shut-offs. Azikiwe will be on a panel with Attys. Jerome Goldberg and Vanessa Fluker. Location Cobo 02-33.

Wednesday, June 23, 1:00pm-5:00pm--Capitalism is Killing Us. A panel discussion with Azikiwe, Fred Goldstein, author of Low-Wage Capitalism and Berta Ceci-Joubert, Puerto Rican writer and activist. Located at Cobo 02-44

Wednesday, June 23, 4:00pm-6:00pm--From My Altitude: A Touring Exhibit by Antonio Guerrero of the Cuban Five. Azikiwe will speak along with Prof. Gloria Aneb House, Chair of African American Studies at the University of Michigan-Dearborn and Jeff Gerrit, editorial writer for the Detroit Free Press. Located at the William H. Carr Cultural Arts Center, 311 E. Grand River in Harmonie Park/Paradise Valley.

Thursday, June 24, 10:00am-Noon--Stopping War, Fighting For Our Jobs and Lives. An International Action Center panel featuring Azikiwe along with Sara Flounders of the IAC and representatives from FIST, Bayan, Movement Against War and Occupation from Vancouver, and others. Location at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel WB1.

Thursday, June 24, 1:00pm-5:30pm--Black Liberation People's Movement Assembly will feature Azikiwe along with Ashaki Binta of the Black Workers for Justice, Rose Brewer,Prof. of Afro-American Studies at the University of Minnesota, Efia Nwangaza, African-American Institute for Policy Studies and Planning and the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement. Located at Cobo W2-68.

Friday, June 25, 10:00am-Noon--March on Chase Bank, Gather at Grand Circus Park. This event is co-sponsored by the Moratorium NOW! Coalition, the Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC), the Religious and Spirituality Committee of the USSF and endorsed by the Metro AFL-CIO and the UAW.
